About Vic

I am a registered counsellor with a Master of Counselling from the University of Auckland. As a full member of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors (NZAC), I am committed to high professional standards, ethical practice, and regular clinical supervision.

Since 2018, I have been working in my private practice in the beautiful Muriwai Valley, supporting clients referred through ACC, WINZ, Gumboot Friday, Southern Cross, Raise EAP, and other organisations. I am an ACC Sensitive Claims provider and is trained in both Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). I co-facilitate long-term DBT groups at CARE Waitakere. I have also worked as a High School Guidance Counsellor and a Hospice Counsellor.

Prior to becoming a counsellor I was a primary teacher.

I approach my work with both practicality and creativity.

My areas of specialty include:

  • Trauma processing

  • Life direction and transitions

  • Anxiety, stress, and burnout

  • Sexual abuse recovery

  • Grief and end-of-life Counselling

  • Distress Tolerance and Emotional Regulation

  • Faith-supported counselling

  • Religious trauma

  • Empty-nest support

  • Menopause | Change of life support

  • Personality understanding and analysis

  • Personal growth and self-awareness

I offer individual in-person counselling sessions (one-hour and three-hour options) at Muriwai Valley, one-hour zoom sessions, or 50-minute outdoor ‘Walk and Talk’ sessions at Muriwai Beach.

I also runs regular half-day contemplative retreats on specific aspects of Christian spirituality.

Outside my professional life, I enjoy spending time with my husband and three adult sons, as well as our two Cavoodles. I love to walk, write, read, garden and have quick dips down at nearby Muriwai Beach.

I honestly wouldn’t be where I am now without your amazing counselling. A lot of what you’ve said has stuck with me, and I just hope I can support others the way you’ve supported me
— Katie B.
I just wanted to let you know I’ve been doing really well, and so much of that is thanks to you and the support you gave me throughout our counselling sessions
